Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged pupils at our partner autism specialist school in Lyndhurst, Hampshire.
About the Role
As a 1:1 Educational Assistant, you will work closely with primary-aged pupils, offering consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. Your role will include:
Building a positive, trusting relationship that helps the pupil feel safe, understood, and confident.
Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.
Breaking down tasks, offering reassurance, and encouraging independence at a pace that suits the pupil.
Using proactive, autism-informed and trauma-aware strategies to help the pupil navigate challenges.
Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, therapists, and external professionals to ensure the pupil receives well-rounded support.
Helping the pupil develop social communication skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging within the school community.
What We're Looking For
A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with young children.
GCSE English & Maths (grade C/level 4 or above).
Experience supporting children with autism or additional needs is highly desirable.
An understanding that behaviour is a form of communication and a commitment to positive, relationship-based support.
Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
Experience in education, youth work, care, or similar settings is beneficial, though passion and commitment are equally valued.

Hours:
Mon-Tue: 08:30-16:30
Wed-Thu: 08:30-16:00
Fri: 08:30-15:00
Contract: Term-time only / Temp-to-Perm
Pay: From £14 per hour
Location: Lyndhurst, Hampshire
