We’re supporting a top 10 Hampshire secondary school in Winchester to appoint a caring, proactive and committed Learning Support Assistant to join its dedicated SEND team on a full-time basis from 16th April 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support students across year groups, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
What you’ll be doing

Supporting students with SEND in lessons across different year groups

Acting as a keyworker for some students with more complex needs

Liaising with staff, parents and students to ensure consistent support

Developing effective learning strategies and sharing good practice

Building strong, positive relationships with young people
What success looks like in this role
First 30 days – Settle & Learn

Get to know students, routines and expectations

Build confidence supporting individuals and small groups

Learn SEND strategies used across the school
Days 30–60 – Grow & Contribute

Take greater ownership of 1:1 and small-group support

Develop strong relationships with teachers and pastoral teams

Support behaviour and emotional regulation with guidance from the SEND team
Days 60–90 – Make an Impact

Support students with increasing independence

Become a trusted and consistent presence

Contribute ideas to help remove barriers to learning

You’ll need GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
Specialist qualifications are not essential. Training and guidance will be provided.
