Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required: - Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-10 years of experience in outfitting engineering or a similar role within the shipbuilding or maritime industry.
- Strong knowledge of shipbuilding processes and the integration of systems such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and interior furnishings.
- Location Requirement : Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
- Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).
Beneficial requirements: - Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for outfitting design and planning.
- Ability to work under pressure with strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and maintain project schedules.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Outfitting Design and Planning: Collaborate with design teams to plan and oversee the outfitting of ship systems and components, ensuring they are installed correctly and efficiently, meeting industry standards.
- Manufacturing Process Optimization: Develop and implement processes for the efficient manufacture and installation of outfitting components, including interiors, electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbing, to meet timelines and budget.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that outfitting procedures comply with all quality standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols during fabrication and installation phases.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve issues during the outfitting process, working closely with production teams to overcome technical challenges and ensure smooth integration of systems.
- Collaboration and Coordination: Work with cross-functional teams, including naval architects, production teams, and suppliers, to ensure that all outfitting activities are properly coordinated and executed according to project specifications.
