We're looking for a hands-on Learning Support Assistant / SEN Specialist to join a secondary school in South / SE Essex. You'll be working with students across KS3-KS5, including those in mainstream lessons, SEN, or SEMH provisions. This isn't just about ticking boxes - you'll be helping students grow, engage, and succeed, while making a real difference every day.
First-timers, career changers, or seasoned LSAs - all welcome.
What you'll actually do:
Work 1:1 or with small groups, helping students who need extra support
Help teachers run lessons smoothly and manage classrooms
Support behaviour, engagement, and confidence in students
Run targeted interventions for literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development
Track pupil progress alongside the SENCO and pastoral team
Support transitions, EHCP targets, and inclusion initiatives
Communicate with parents, staff, and external agencies when needed
Who will fit in this role:
Someone who's worked with secondary students before (SEN experience a bonus)
Calm, patient, and confident when supporting individuals or small groups
A team player who can organise, communicate, and problem-solve
Someone who gets SEN, SEMH, or EAL needs and knows how to help
Experienced is great, but attitude and reliability count just as much
