The Opportunity
A leading building services contractor based in Chelmsford is looking to strengthen its pre-construction team with the appointment of an experienced Electrical Estimator.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business with a strong presence in the building services sector, working on a diverse range of commercial projects valued up to £6 million.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the tendering process, preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates while working closely with the wider pre-construction and commercial teams to secure new business.
Key Responsibilities
• Preparing detailed and accurate electrical estimates for commercial building services projects.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Producing bills of quantities, material take-offs and labour cost assessments.
• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Identifying project risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
• Liaising with clients, consultants, suppliers and internal project teams throughout the tender process.
• Ensuring tenders are submitted accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Supporting the pre-construction team in developing competitive bids and securing new projects.
The Ideal Candidate
• Previous experience working as an Electrical Estimator within the building services or M&E sector.
• Strong knowledge of electrical installations within commercial construction projects.
• Experience pricing tenders for projects of varying sizes and complexity.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
• Proficient in relevant estimating software and Microsoft Office.
