1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Chesterfield
Help build confidence. Support progress. Inspire potential.
Are you a patient, resilient Teaching Assistant who can build strong relationships with children who need additional support?
PK Education is looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Chesterfield to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and behaviours that challenge.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
The role
As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored support that meets a pupil’s individual learning, emotional and social needs.
Build trusting relationships through a calm, consistent and nurturing approach.
Support emotional regulation and use positive behaviour strategies to help pupils manage difficult situations.
Adapt activities and break learning into manageable steps alongside the class teacher.
Encourage independence, confidence and positive relationships with others.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to follow individual support plans and celebrate progress.
What we’re looking for
We would love to hear from you if you have:
Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, SEMH needs or behaviours that challenge, within education, care or another relevant professional setting.
A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
An understanding that behaviour can communicate an unmet need.
Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing.
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one.
A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification and experience using de-escalation strategies would be advantageous.
