Operations Director Job in Dorset
Dovetail Recruitment are proud to be working with a manufacturing business in Dorset who are looking for a new Operations Director to join their evolving business. This is a strategic, hands on role that covers logistics, supply chain, S&OP, warehousing, operations and facilities. You will report to and partner with the COO, have two direct reports, and a team of 40 – 50 people under them.
The Operations Director will be a present and transparent person who is able to bring about positive change, efficiency, and align to business strategy and continued M&As. This is not a delegation role, but a hands on, partnering position, where you will be on the front line of every day decision making, and strategic implementations. The core business needs to continue to be capable of supporting rapid growth across global markets and the Operations Director is a very key part in this.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee global supply chain performance, S&OP, logistics and facilities management, delivering continuous improvement and leading on operations for M&As.

Partner with product development, commercial, finance, supply chain and logistics team to ensure operational readiness for new product launches, continued growth and new product innovation while aligning with business strategy.

Take ownership of budgeting and forecasting for operations, capital investment planning, and ROI analysis for infrastructure and technology projects, ensuring cost discipline across all areas.

Embed carbon reduction, ethical sourcing, circular economy principles, and customer ESG requirements into operations while partnering with relevant teams.

Mitigate risk across multiple business areas including cyber, supply chain, and sourcing

Mentor, coach and develop your team to ensure strong operational excellent, achievement of KPIs and succession planning.

Provide structured updates on transformation progress, operational KPIs, risk posture, and strategic alignment.
Key Requirements:

Manufacturing industry experience

Used to working across multiple sites

Experience at Director level covering full operations

Happy to be hands on while able to demonstrate strategic thinking
