Our client is a well-established and successful manufacturer, they are looking for a recent Graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering to join them as a Junior Acoustics Estimator / Graduate Acoustic Estimator. The role will involve reading and interpreting specifications and drawings, developing an understanding of clients’ requirements and supporting the preparation of suitable HVAC solutions. This is a permanent, full-time position (38.25 hours per week).
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 per annum + great company benefits
The Junior Acoustic Estimator will support the preparation of quotations, working alongside more experienced members of the team to ensure bids are technically and commercially accurate before being issued to the market.
The role will also involve supporting the Sales and Project Management teams with technical information and quotation queries. As experience develops, there may be opportunities to communicate directly with clients and assist in building strong, long-term relationships.
The Junior Acoustic Estimator will be expected to organise and prioritise their workload with guidance from the wider team, ensuring quotations and customer enquiries are dealt with within agreed timescales.
All communications, quotations and relevant information are to be accurately recorded and maintained within the company's electronic filing systems and CRM system.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Read and develop an understanding of customer enquiries, including scope of works documents, schedules, drawings and project specifications, with support from experienced team members where required.

Assist with identifying the resources and information required to prepare quotations within agreed timescales.

Raise any concerns or queries regarding the technical scope of works with the relevant member of the Sales or Design team.

Use component and product selection software to assist with preparing estimates for bespoke equipment, developing knowledge of relevant regulations and product requirements.

Assist with preparing clear and accurate quotations and associated technical information for customers, with guidance from experienced team members.

Develop an understanding of commercial and technical considerations when preparing quotations and selecting appropriate solutions.

Assist with identifying and recording appropriate exclusions and inclusions within quotations to help avoid misunderstandings and reduce risk to the business.

Report any issues identified with software systems and suggest improvements where

appropriate to support the efficiency of the quotation process.

Provide technical and specification information to clients and internal colleagues, with support from experienced members of the team where required.

Work collaboratively with colleagues to support the department in delivering accurate and timely quotations.

Assist with communicating and documenting the scope of works to the Project Manager once work is secured and attend internal meetings as required.

Liaise with internal departments to ensure they have the relevant information required for projects and provide additional information as required.

Maintain accurate records of communications and submissions using electronic filing systems and keep internal CRM systems updated.

Work towards developing knowledge and experience across the design, estimating and project processes, taking guidance and support from more experienced colleagues.

Experience required:
Some previous experience or a relevant qualification in engineering, estimating, design or a related discipline would be beneficial, but is not essential for the right candidate.
An interest in developing knowledge of HVAC, acoustic equipment and associated products.
An aptitude for maths and science, with the ability to apply basic mathematical principles to engineering tasks.
A willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate work.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from more experienced colleagues.
Ability to organise and prioritise workload with support when required.
Ability to work to agreed deadlines and manage changing priorities.
A flexible and positive approach, with the ability to remain calm when working under pressure.
An interest in developing commercial awareness within the HVAC industry.
