CNC Setter – Die Casting
Location: Burnley
Hours: Monday - Thursday 6.00am - 3.00pm
Salary: £32,000
We’re looking for an experienced CNC Setter to join a busy manufacturing environment in Burnley, machining aluminium, zinc and other die-cast components.
This is a hands-on role focused on CNC setting, tooling, quality and production, ensuring machines are correctly prepared and components are produced accurately and efficiently.
The Role

Set and operate CNC machines, including milling machines, lathes and machining centres

Set tooling, offsets, work coordinates, fixtures and cutting parameters

Load and make minor adjustments to existing CNC programmes

Set machines for different components and production runs

Carry out first-off inspections and make adjustments where required

Monitor tooling and replace worn or damaged tools

Machine aluminium, zinc and other die-cast components
-
Ensure components meet required dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes

Use verniers, micrometers, bore gauges, callipers and other measuring equipment

Identify and resolve setting, tooling and machining issues
-
Carry out basic machine checks and report faults

Complete setting sheets, quality checks and production records

Support operators and maintain efficient production flow

Contribute to continuous improvement, 5S and lean manufacturing
About You
You’ll ideally have previous experience as a CNC Setter or in a similar CNC machining role within a manufacturing environment.
You should have:

Strong CNC setting experience

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Good knowledge of tooling, fixtures, offsets and work-holding

Experience setting machine tools and cutting parameters

Good understanding of engineering tolerances

Experience using precision measuring equipment

Strong attention to detail and quality

Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Experience machining aluminium, zinc or other die-cast components would be advantageous. Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens or Heidenhain controls and the ability to make minor programme edits would also be beneficial.
