Learning Support Assistant – Chelmsford
Full Time | ASAP Start | 1:1 & Small Group Support | Secondary Education
Gold Education Recruitment is currently working with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Chelmsford, seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis, starting ASAP.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education professional who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with students on a 1:1 basis, providing tailored support to pupils with a variety of learning and additional needs. There will also be opportunities to support small groups of students both inside and outside the classroom.
Important Requirements
Applicants must:
Be available to work full time.
- Have a minimum of 3 months' UK work experience within an education setting.
Have experience working directly with children or young people.
Be able to start ASAP.
Be committed to supporting students with a range of abilities and needs.
What You'll Be Doing

Providing 1:1 support to students with a range of learning and additional needs.

Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and participate fully in lessons.

Helping students develop their confidence, independence and social skills.

Working alongside teachers and other support staff to meet individual student needs.

Supporting students who may require additional help with concentration, communication, organisation or learning.

Providing encouragement and reassurance to students when required.

Supporting pupils with their classwork and helping them remain focused and engaged.

Supporting small groups of students with targeted learning activities where required.

Helping students develop positive relationships and appropriate classroom behaviours.

Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.

Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Supporting students across different subjects and year groups where required.
What We're Looking For

Minimum 3 months' UK experience working in an education setting – essential.

Full-time availability – essential.

Experience working with children or young people.

A genuine passion for supporting students and helping them achieve their potential.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, empathy and a calm approach.

Confidence working 1:1 with students and within small groups.

The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN/SEND Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Tutor, Mentor, Youth Worker or similar would be highly advantageous.
