Applications Technologist – Flavours and Food Ingredients
Location: Milton Keynes
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Working Pattern: Laboratory-based with hybrid working opportunities

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Applications Technologist to join a growing Food & Beverage team, providing technical support and application expertise across a diverse portfolio of flavours, colours and food ingredients.
This role would suit a recent graduate with a degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline, or someone with a few years' experience in flavour, colour or food ingredients in an applications, formulation or NPD role.
You'll combine hands-on laboratory work with customer interaction, technical problem-solving and commercial development. You will work across a broad range of food and beverage applications, with the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in 2–3 key sectors, such as Beverage, Dairy, Confectionery or Culinary.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of the food ingredient portfolio and provide customers with value-added, total formulation solutions.
- Work on developing applications across a range of food and beverage categories.
- Develop specialist expertise within 2–3 key market sectors – beverage is a key sector
- Work closely with technical flavour and colour teams to develop innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with the Sales team to prioritise projects and support customer visits.
- Provide technical support and advice to customers and suppliers.
- Support the development of food ingredient and application strategies.
- Present technical concepts, solutions and application results to customers and internal teams.
- Manage multiple projects, prioritising workload to meet deadlines and customer requirements.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded technologist with a passion for food, ingredients and innovation.
You will ideally have:
- An Honours degree or equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology or another relevant scientific discipline.
- Practical, hands-on experience working with flavours or food ingredients in am applications or development role.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- A dynamic, self-starting approach and the confidence to work independently.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A collaborative and approachable personality, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of customer needs.
- Excellent IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office.
- A willingness to travel within the UK, with occasional international travel
