Residential Support Worker – Family Residential Care
Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire
Are you passionate about supporting families and children with complex needs? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring and dedicated individual to join a leading children’s charity as a Residential Support Worker in Market Harborough. This full-time, permanent role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people in a residential setting.
In this role, you will work within a Family Residential Centre that provides safe, nurturing accommodation for families experiencing challenges such as moderate to high learning needs, domestic violence, substance/alcohol misuse, mental health issues, or trauma. The focus is on empowering parents through guidance, role modelling, and practical support, whilst ensuring safeguarding and safety protocols are strictly followed.
Key Responsibilities:

Build trusting, nurturing relationships to promote independence and wellbeing for service users

Work collaboratively with parents/carers and multidisciplinary professionals to support positive outcomes

Assist with daily house management, including cooking and cleaning

Accurately maintain records and documentation in line with safeguarding policies

Promote and maintain a safe, secure environment at all times

Support children and families during assessment and care planning processes
Essential Requirements:

Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to achieve within a specified timeframe

Previous experience working with children and families in a similar setting

Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation

Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with willingness to travel across the locality, including other homes in Hinckley, Coalville, Mountsorrel, and Syston
Desirable Skills:

Experience working with children with EBD, SEN, or under Ofsted regulation

Knowledge of statutory frameworks including safeguarding policies and procedures

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy residential environment
