The Opportunity
This role is ideal for a mid‑level Accounts Assistant who enjoys variety, thrives in a hands‑on environment, and feels confident managing core transactional finance tasks with minimal supervision. You'll support a busy finance function with day‑to‑day accounting duties, working closely with the Finance Manager and wider operations team.
It's a great fit for someone who is self‑driven, highly organised, and enjoys being a completer‑finisher, seeing tasks through accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities
You will take responsibility for a full range of transactional finance duties, including:
Banking & Reconciliations
Daily bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
"Closing off" banking at day‑end and month‑end
Monitoring cash postings and ensuring accuracyAccounts Payable (AP)
Processing supplier invoices
Matching, batching, coding, and posting invoices
Supplier statement reconciliations
Supporting payment runsAccounts Receivable (AR)
Raising sales invoices
Allocating customer receipts
Assisting with credit control tasks when requiredGeneral Ledger & Month‑End Support
Preparing journals (accruals, prepayments, adjustments)
Assisting with month‑end closing tasks
Supporting balance sheet reconciliationsOther Duties
Supporting internal departments with finance queries
Maintaining accurate electronic records
Supporting process improvements and efficiencies
Ad‑hoc finance tasks as requiredSkills & Experience Required
Essential
Previous experience in a busy accounts assistant or finance administrator role
Strong understanding of transactional finance (AP, AR, banking, reconciliations)
Confident and self‑sufficient and able to get on with tasks with minimal supervision
High accuracy and attention to detail
A "can‑do" attitude and willingness to muck in across the team
Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines
Competent with general accounting software and ExcelDesirable (but not essential)
Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or operational environment
Prior exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (training provided)
Experience supporting month‑end processesPersonal Attributes
