Production Operative - Contract - South East
Overview
Fuel Recruitment is partnering with a leading technology manufacturer operating within low‑ to medium‑volume production, supporting programmes across the Aerospace and Defence sectors. They are looking for experienced Production Operatives to join their assembly team and support the build of high‑quality, high‑precision products.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and assemble units in line with customer drawings and specifications.

Read and interpret complex electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.

Follow routings and Work Instruction Sheets, ensuring all processes are completed accurately.

Maintain compliance with quality procedures, including IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, AS9100 and NADCAP where required.

Support Health & Safety, Environmental, 5S and other Lean activities.

Work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams, including supporting early-stage product design.

Carry out additional duties appropriate to skills and experience.
Key Skills / Experience
-
Strong background in manufacturing and assembly, ideally within Aerospace, Defence, or similar technical environments.

Proven ability to interpret both electrical and mechanical engineering drawings.

Skilled in wire stripping, tinning and crimping across a range of diameters.

Experience within electronic manufacturing environments.

Working knowledge of Health & Safety in engineering or manufacturing.

High attention to detail with a “right first time” approach.

IPC and J‑STD soldering qualifications (desirable).

Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.
