SEND Learning Support Assistant – Wakefield & Pontefract

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (Permanent potential)
Pay: £12.07 - £14.43 per hour
PK Education are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEND Learning Support Assistants to work across a number of resourced provisions and mainstream schools in Wakefield and Pontefract.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who thrives on supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), providing 1:1 and small-group support within a well-organised and nurturing school environment.
The Role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with SEND
Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development
Work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff to meet individual targets
Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
Use a calm, resilient, and nurturing approach, particularly with pupils displaying challenging behaviour
Support small groups and carry out general teaching assistant duties when required
Assist with personal care, where necessary (desirable but not essential)
Experience working in primary or secondary school settings
Previous experience supporting children with SEND
A patient, dedicated, and resilient personality
Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
Experience supporting children with limited communication or non-verbal needs (highly advantageous)
SEND-related training or qualifications (beneficial but not essential)
Competitive daily pay of £12.07 - £14.43 per hour.
