Learning Support Assistant

Academics are currently recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within an alternative provision setting in Maidstone. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people who require a more tailored and nurturing approach to education.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students who may have SEMH needs, additional learning needs, or challenging behaviour, helping them to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
Supporting students on a 1:1 or small group basis
Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and behaviour management
Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Encouraging engagement, confidence, and emotional regulation
Supporting students both academically and socially
The Ideal Candidate
We are keen to hear from candidates who:
Have experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, sports coaching, etc.)
Are calm, resilient, and patient
Have a genuine interest in alternative education and inclusive practice
Are able to build strong rapport and set clear boundaries
Hold (or are willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the update service
Previous experience in an alternative provision, SEN setting, or PRU is desirable but not essential
