Accounts & Finance Assistant
St Helens (Hybrid Working) - Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + package
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts & Finance Assistant to join a growing finance function based in St Helens. This is a hands-on role supporting day-to-day finance operations across the UK and Europe, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment.
You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and external accountants across several countries, using Xero as the core accounting system. The business operates across the UK and Ireland, with additional activity in Germany, Finland, and Denmark, offering excellent exposure to international finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledgers
Raising and managing sales invoices and supporting sales applications
Completing bank reconciliations across multiple entities and currencies
Liaising with suppliers to resolve invoice and payment queries
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records within Xero
Supporting month-end close and reporting processes
Working closely with external accountants in Ireland and other European locations
Assisting with intercompany transactions and reconciliations
Ensuring compliance with internal finance procedures and deadlines
About You
You will be organised, reliable, and confident working with financial data and accounting systems.
Essential:
Previous experience in an accounts, finance, or bookkeeping role
Working knowledge of Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communication skills when dealing with suppliers and external partners
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Desirable:
Experience working with multiple entities and/or currencies
Exposure to international or European finance environments
AAT qualification or currently working towards one
Experience liaising with external accountants
