Main Purpose of the Role
The DSV Road Logistics Continuous Improvement team is looking for a driven Industrial Engineer to join our team and drive operational excellence in the business.
Minimum Requirements (non-negotiable)
Grade 12 / Matric
Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering
At least 5 years experience as an Engineer within the Logistics environment with key focus areas being:
- Continuous Improvement Management: Manage and Report on Cost Saving and Sigma Initiatives
- SIGMA: Identify and Implement SIGMA Initiatives
- Engineered Solutions: Identify, analyse & develop value-adding solutions for current & prospective clients
- Tools: Application of the following tools and/or methodologies as appropriate and when required:
- Big data analysis
- Simulation Modelling
- PYTHON
- Sensitivity Analysis
- Theory of Constraints
- Analysis and recommendations: 1) Data (analysis, comparison, sense checking), 2) Processes (supporting business objectives, complete, accurate, relevant, error proofed, common exceptions covered, measurable), 3) Facilities (best practices, flow, flexibility, compliance);
- Business cases / feasibility studies: Develop as required depending on financial investment required and risk profile. Tools and aspects to consider include ROI calculations, quantified value, opportunity for productivity improvements and future growth / revenue potential
Advanced Computer skills - Excel, SQL, TMS, PYTHON
Travel: Reasonable local travel requirement to use knowledge, skills and experience in support of relevant DSV business objectives

Duties and Responsibilities
Designing, planning and implementing logistics solutions, whilst managing stakeholder (internal & external) expectations throughout the solution design and implementation phase.
Supporting the company objectives of improving customer service, reducing operational costs and driving operational excellence within the business.
Proactively identifying opportunities, developing solution design approaches, getting buy-in from stakeholders and implementing solutions.
Driving continuous improvement and innovation with a robust engineering approach (Big Data, Analytics, Simulation etc).
Utilising current models and practices to perform support functions to the business
Identify Continuous Improvement Initiatives in Road Logistics. This includes Operations, Support Functions and Terminal Operations
Develop Business Case(s) for Identified Initiatives
Implemented S&P (Solution and Pricing) initiatives
Measure / Track Impact
Change Management
