Pay Rate: £13.69 per hour PAYE
Unsocial Hours Rate: £15.74 per hour for hours worked before 6am
Hours: 18 hours per week
Working Days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
Shift Pattern: Split shifts – early morning setup and afternoon dismantling
The Opportunity
LYNX Employment Services are recruiting 4 Market Operatives to help set up and dismantle local markets across the Walsall area.
This is a practical, hands-on role suited to reliable, physically active individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are comfortable with early starts.
You'll help ensure markets are ready for traders and visitors each morning, then return later in the day to safely dismantle equipment once trading has finished.
Working Hours – Important Information
This role involves split shifts on the same day.
Morning shift: Starts between 4am and 6am, depending on the market location and opening time. You'll help assemble and prepare the market.
Afternoon shift: You'll return later to dismantle the market, with the shift finishing between 4pm and 5pm.
Total working hours: 18 hours per week across the required working days.
There will be a break between the morning and afternoon shifts. This is not a continuous shift from 4am to 5pm.
Any hours worked before 6am attract an additional 15% unsocial hours payment, equivalent to £15.74 per hour PAYE.
Key Responsibilities
Setting up market stalls and associated equipment before trading begins.
Safely dismantling and storing market equipment after trading.
Moving, lifting and positioning equipment as required.
Ensuring market areas are clean, tidy and safe.
Supporting the smooth operation of markets across different locations.
Following health and safety procedures and working effectively as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
Full driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Willingness to travel between different market locations.
Business-use motor insurance, or willingness to add it to your existing policy if offered the role.
Availability for early morning starts and afternoon return shifts.
Availability across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Ability to undertake physical work, including lifting and moving market equipment.
Reliability, punctuality and a practical approach to work.
You do not need to have business-use insurance when applying. However, evidence of appropriate business insurance will be required during employment checks before starting work.
Any additional insurance costs are the worker's responsibility and will not be reimbursed.
Mileage Expenses
Mileage expenses can be claimed for eligible travel between work sites.
Travel between home and a work site is not reimbursable.
