Stores / Workshop Coordinator | Rate: £15.00 - £17.00 p/h DOE (Inside/Outside IR35)
West Yorkshire | 3 Month Contract
Are you an organised, practically minded stores person with a feel for engineering parts and a background in a busy manufacturing environment, looking for a hands-on contract with real ownership of your work? Do you enjoy taking a stores area and turning it into a system everyone can rely on?
My client is a small, established manufacturing business in West Yorkshire, running a busy 24/7 operation with extrusion lines. They require a Stores / Workshop Coordinator to start immediately on an initial 3-month contract, with the possibility of coming back later to keep things up to date.
Get the Stores and Workshop Under Control
This is a hands-on contract in a small, close-knit factory where everyone pitches in. The engineering manager is stretched thin, and the stores and workshop have outgrown the current set-up. You’ll work independently, reporting directly into the engineering manager, and take full ownership of getting the area organised.
Your responsibilities:
Your day-to-day work will involve establishing a clear, well-organised stores and workshop area from the ground up. You’ll sort and categorise a wide range of stock, including PPE, cleaning products, nuts and bolts, airline fittings, fuses, electrical contractors and other electronic components, as well as tools and small workshop equipment such as bench grinders and sanders. You’ll also organise the machinery spares, mainly conveyor belt rollers, die parts and material conveying components, so engineers can find what they need quickly. As the site is BRC accredited and an audit could land on any day, you’ll help keep the area tidy, labelled and audit ready.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you’ll need strong organisational skills and practical experience working in a stores, stockroom or workshop environment. You should be able to tell a bearing from a V-belt and have a good understanding of machinery spare parts. No specific qualifications are required. We’re looking for someone straightforward, reliable and happy to roll their sleeves up, who can work on their own initiative and fit into a small, hands-on team.
Why Apply?
This is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of a project with a visible impact on a busy, growing manufacturer. You’ll be working independently with the support of an approachable engineering manager and a team that will appreciate the difference you make. There’s an immediate start available, a competitive hourly rate and the chance to be called back for future updates once the job is done.
