Transport planner required in the Walsall area of the west midlands, this role is a monday to friday position, daytime hours, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating daily transport operations, ensuring vehicles and drivers are scheduled efficiently and that customer requirements are met. Transport planner £33-36k. The current person leaves early November and they are looking for someone to do a handover prior to this and ideally start in October.
The role
As a Transport planner you will be responsible for the smooth running of the transport side within your fleet, this is a fast pasced environment and you will need to be able to deal with a fast paced operaton. The role will include Plan and coordinating daily transport operations and driver schedules. you will also allocate vehicles and drivers efficiently to meet customer requirements. Manage and monitor transport movements throughout the day. you will need to communicate with drivers, customers and internal teams to ensure smooth operations. you will also need to Deal with any delays, breakdowns or operational issues and find suitable solutions. This role will include all the standard transport planner duties.
Requirements
we are looking for a transport planner with a background in transport planning ideally with Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics or similar role. plus a Good knowledge of UK transport operations and drivers' hours regulations
Desirable (not essential)
• Experience within haulage, HGV transport or a similar logistics environment.
• Knowledge of fleet management and vehicle compliance.
• Experience using transport management/planning software.
• Experience using Haulage Exchange, Amazon Relay and Qargo software.
• Previous experience working with HGV drivers and subcontractors.
• CPC qualification/licence (this would be a real advantage)
