About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Youth Justice Officer to join a dedicated multi-agency Youth Justice Service within Walsall Council committed to preventing and reducing offending by children and young people through a Child First approach.
As a Youth Justice Officer, you will play a key role in delivering effective interventions and support to children, young people, families, and victims of crime. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will undertake assessments, planning, and case management to ensure positive outcomes and compliance with relevant youth justice legislation.
Location: Walsall Civic Centre, Walsall
Rate: £27.65 per hour Umbrella / £21.65 per hour PAYE
Driver Required
Hybrid Working: Office attendance required on Mondays and Tuesdays, with opportunities to work from home where appropriate, subject to visits and service requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support children and young people subject to out-of-court interventions and statutory court orders.
Carry out comprehensive assessments, planning, and intervention work in line with Youth Justice standards.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver coordinated support and achieve positive outcomes.
Provide court cover and undertake Appropriate Adult duties on a rota basis.
Engage effectively with young people, parents/carers, victims, and partner organisations.
Maintain accurate case records and reports in line with legislative requirements and service standards.Requirements
Previous experience working within a Youth Justice Service or similar offending/prevention setting.
Strong understanding of youth justice legislation and practice.
Experience completing ASSET+ assessments and PDATs is highly desirable.
Ability to manage complex caseloads and deliver targeted interventions.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
