Investigation Paralegal
£194.38 per day (Outside IR35) / 23 Months - Edinburgh
Parity is delighted to partner with our client, a public sector organisation, who are looking to recruit a on a 23-month contract basis.
You will be based in their modern, central Edinburgh offices with potential to work remotely 2 days a week.
We are looking for Investigation Paralegals to work with the solicitor team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised, analytical and conscientious legal professional to gain experience within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment and contribute to significant public-interest work.
Key Responsibilities
Support solicitors and counsel with investigations by assisting with the preparation of formal notices and the recovery and analysis of evidence.
Review and analyse documents, witness statements, transcripts and other evidence gathered by the Inquiry.
Work closely with the Records and Evidence Management team to redact sensitive and confidential information for disclosure and publication.
Assist with the preparation of findings in fact and the Inquiry's final report.
Support the preparation and maintenance of legal records for transmission to the National Records of Scotland.
Assist with the assessment of expenses submitted by parties receiving funding for legal representation.
Prepare papers and documentation for counsel and the Inquiry's statement-taking team.
Provide administrative and research support to solicitors and counsel.
Undertake other investigation and administrative tasks as required.
About You
We are looking for candidates with paralegal, legal, investigation, casework or other relevant experience, together with excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
You will ideally have experience of:
Reviewing and analysing complex or sensitive documentation and evidence.
Working with confidential or sensitive information.
Preparing legal, investigation or casework documentation.
Working accurately with large volumes of information.
Redaction, document management or records management.
Supporting legal, investigative or multidisciplinary teams.
Using Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Word, to a high standard.
You will also need to be able to:
Work independently with minimal supervision.
Remain calm and effective when working under pressure.
Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Prioritise competing workloads and deliver work to deadlines.
Demonstrate discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Adapt to changing priorities and take on a range of ad hoc tasks when required.
