We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-run motor retail group in Gloucester for the position of Workshop Controller. Working hours: 8:00am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 Saturdays from 8:30am to 12:30pmDuties:
Oversee and lead the workshop team of approximately seven technicians
Liaise with the Service Manager to optimise workshop efficiency and processes
Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated effectively
Monitor individual and workshop productivity to meet key performance indicators
Manage the allocation and distribution of work based on skill levels
Identify training and development needs within the team as the Workshop Controller
Coordinate between workshop and service reception to track vehicle progress
Maintain workshop standards in line with health and safety regulations and brand requirements
Uphold customer satisfaction standards and ensure service quality and reliabilityRequirements:
Proven experience managing an automotive workshop or similar leadership role, ideally within a franchise dealership
Alternatively, experienced senior Vehicle Technicians or Service Advisers with strong technical knowledge and leadership aspirations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the Workshop Controller
Strong team-oriented approach with results-driven mindset
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Attention to quality and reliability standards
IT literacy
