The Opportunity
A well-established and highly regarded engineering manufacturer based in Chesterfield is looking to appoint an experienced Sales Estimator to join its commercial team.
The company specialises in the manufacture of precision CNC machined components for demanding industries including aerospace, defence and oil & gas. Due to continued growth, they are looking for someone who can accurately assess customer requirements, prepare competitive quotations and work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure enquiries can be delivered effectively.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in engineering estimation, CNC machining or a technical sales environment who enjoys working across departments and wants to develop their career within a specialist manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities

Review customer enquiries, drawings, specifications and technical requirements.

Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for CNC machined components.

Assess manufacturing requirements, including machining processes, materials, tooling and associated costs.

Liaise with customers to clarify requirements and resolve queries where required.

Work closely with production, purchasing, supply chain and engineering teams to establish accurate costs and lead times.

Obtain and assess supplier/subcontractor costs where necessary.

Ensure quotations are prepared within agreed timescales.

Maintain accurate records of quotations and customer enquiries.

Support the sales team with technical and commercial information.

Identify opportunities to improve quotation accuracy, competitiveness and efficiency.

Build strong working relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders.
Skills & Experience

Previous experience in engineering/manufacturing estimation or technical sales.

Knowledge of CNC machining processes.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Good understanding of manufacturing costs and lead times.

Strong attention to detail and numerical ability.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Ability to manage multiple quotations and deadlines.

Comfortable working collaboratively with production, purchasing and supply chain teams.

Experience within aerospace, defence, oil & gas or another highly regulated engineering sector would be advantageous.
