Are you an experienced Toolmaker, Press Toolmaker or Toolroom Technician looking for a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment?
Our Client is looking for a multi-skilled Toolroom Technician to join its Toolroom team, supporting day-to-day manufacturing operations through the manufacture, maintenance, repair and fault-finding of production tooling.
This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced Toolmaker who is confident working with press and shear tools, precision machining and engineering drawings, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment where tooling availability is critical to keeping manufacturing running efficiently.
The Role:
Working as part of the Toolroom team, you will manufacture new tooling and components, carry out repairs and maintenance, and respond to tooling breakdowns across the company's manufacturing divisions.
You will be involved in:
Manufacturing, repairing and maintaining press and shear tooling
Fault finding and diagnosing tooling issues
Machining new parts and tooling components
Operating CNC and manual machine tools
Milling, turning and surface grinding
Wire EDM / wire erosion
Setting up and using tooling, fixtures and associated equipment
Reading and working accurately from engineering drawings
Working to specified dimensions and tight engineering tolerances
Supporting production with tooling repairs and breakdown response
Helping ensure tooling is manufactured and repaired in time to meet production and try-out requirements
Working towards a right-first-time approach to quality and accuracy
Liaising with external contractors and suppliers where specialist support is required
Supporting continuous improvement across the Toolroom and manufacturing operation
You will work closely with production and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime and ensure tooling is available when required.
What We're Looking For:
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience as a:
Toolmaker, Press Toolmaker, Toolroom Technician, Tooling Technician, Toolroom Engineer, Press Tool Technician, CNC Toolmaker, Precision Toolmaker
You should have practical experience in a busy engineering or manufacturing Toolroom and be comfortable working across a range of machining and tooling activities.
Essential experience:
Experience manufacturing, maintaining and repairing press and/or shear tools
Strong tooling fault-finding and maintenance experience
Experience with CNC and manual machining
Practical experience of milling, turning and surface grinding
Experience with wire EDM / wire erosion
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Experience working accurately to engineering tolerances
Ability to prioritise workload and work effectively to tight deadlines
Strong attention to detail and a right-first-time approach
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
A self-motivated, organised and professional approach
Advantageous:
Experience supporting a production/press shop environment
Experience responding to tooling breakdowns in a manufacturing environment
Forklift Truck experience
Overhead crane experience
Experience working with continuous improvement or manufacturing KPIs
Forklift Truck and overhead crane training will be provided where required.
Hours of work:
Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.00pm with half hour lunch break each day and 7.30am to 12.30pm with no lunch break on Friday of each week – 37 hours in total, paid monthly.
