Motor Claims Handler – FNOL & Accidental Damage | Bolton | £26,500 – £30,000
35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. No evenings, no weekends, no rota. Free parking. Fully funded CII.
We are recruiting an experienced Motor Claims Handler in Bolton to take ownership of FNOL and accidental damage claims for an established, FCA-regulated general insurance business. On site at BL7 — an easy drive from Bolton, Bury, Horwich, Westhoughton, Radcliffe, Chorley, Blackburn and Darwen.
If you are already handling FNOL motor claims and you are doing it on a rota, or on a 24/7 operation, this is worth ten minutes of your time.
Why people move for this one
It is not usually the money. It is that a Motor Claims Handler here works 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and that is it. No late shifts, no Saturday rota, no on-call. For someone coming off a seven-day operation that is most of a life back.
The other thing is the training. Fully funded CII, and a dedicated in-house motor claims trainer who coaches one to one.
What you will be doing
-
Taking FNOL motor claims, capturing the detail properly first time and setting the customer's expectations honestly
-
Handling accidental damage claims through to settlement — engineers, repairers, salvage, courtesy cars, third parties
-
Investigating liability and validating cover, and making the settlement decision
-
Running your own caseload by phone and in writing, keeping every file moving
-
Being the person the policyholder and the broker actually want to speak to
-
Identifying fraud indicators and escalating them
What you will need
-
Solid motor claims experience — FNOL, accidental damage, or both
-
Confident managing a caseload independently and making a liability decision you can justify
-
Strong communication and negotiation, and the patience for people having a bad day
-
Comfortable across multiple claims systems
-
GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths
-
CII Certificate held or in progress — fully funded if not
Two years' motor claims experience is the marker for the top of this range. If you are at eighteen months and strong on liability, still send it — we will have the conversation with the employer rather than screening you out on a number.
What you get
-
£26,500 – £30,000 depending on experience
-
35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, flexible start and finish, hybrid after probation
-
Fully funded CII and one-to-one coaching from a dedicated motor claims trainer
-
Annual salary reviews and a recognition bonus of up to £300
-
29 days' holiday including bank holidays, rising to 36 with length of service, plus your birthday off and a half-day for seasonal shopping
-
Holiday buy and sell, early finish on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve
-
Company-paid health cash plan — dental, optical, therapies, 24/7 GP access, counselling
-
Contributory pension, £1,000 refer-a-friend bonus, free on-site parking, casual dress with free branded clothing, cycle to work scheme
-
Sports and social club, on-site mental health first aiders
-
A Living Wage and Living Hours employer, Disability Confident Committed
Being straight with you
Five days a week on site until you have passed probation — hybrid is not there from day one. You need to drive; the site sits on the edge of Egerton and public transport is not realistic. And the top of the range genuinely is for two years' motor claims — we would rather say that now than at offer stage.
How to apply
Send your CV. We will ring you and talk it through properly — the team, the caseload, the progression — before anything goes anywhere
