Role: Bookkeeper
Location: Woolston, Warrington
Pay: Up to £15.50 per hour
Hours: 15 hours per week, flexible on hours.
Contract: Temporary to permanent
Our client, are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their tea.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and finance administration, as well as preparing monthly management accounts and supporting the wider business.
We are looking for someone who is confident using Xero and Excel, has a good understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and prepayments, and is able to use their own initiative to identify and resolve issues.
Duties of a Bookkeeper
Inputting purchase invoices on to company databases
Dealing with creditor and supplier queries.
Completing bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Preparing and posting monthly journals.
Preparing monthly management accounts, including calculating and posting accruals and prepayments, with supporting schedules maintained on Excel.
Collating and sending the required wages information each month and inputting the monthly wages journal.
Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
Liaising with the company’s accountants regarding annual accounts and providing the required information for the Directors’ annual tax information.
Organising and processing all paperwork for new starters
Keeping on top of the accounts inbox, ensuring emails and queries are dealt with promptly.
Ensuring any Corporation Tax liabilities are paid on time and by the relevant due date.
Dealing with any ad-hoc finance, bookkeeping or administrative tasks as required.
Requirements of a Bookkeeper:
Previous bookkeeping experience.
Confident using Xero and Microsoft Excel.
Good understanding of accruals and prepayments.
Experience preparing monthly management accounts.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Able to investigate and resolve discrepancies independently.
Proactive approach with the ability to think for themselves and use their own initiative.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Good communication skills and confidence dealing with colleagues, suppliers and external accountants
