Azure Migration Engineer (VMware to Azure Local)

Role Overview
Our client, a manufacturing organisation, is looking for an experienced Azure Migration Engineer to lead the migration of virtual machine workloads from VMware to Azure Local Stack. This is a hands-on contract covering the full migration lifecycle — from discovery and planning through execution, cutover, and post-migration optimisation.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and design the VM to Azure migration strategy

Migrate application VMs from VMware to Azure Local Stack

Troubleshoot VM conversion, networking, storage, and compatibility issues

Conduct migration discovery, dependency analysis, and readiness assessments

Execute cutovers and coordinate migration activities with stakeholders

Perform post-migration validation, optimisation, and issue resolution

Ensure compliance with security, backup, DR, and governance standards
Requirements

Proven experience delivering VMware to Azure migrations

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Local Stack

Experience supporting Azure migrations within manufacturing environments

Solid understanding of VM conversion, networking, and storage compatibility issues

Experience coordinating cutover activities with cross-functional stakeholders

Awareness of security, backup, DR, and governance frameworks
