English & Maths Tutor - Herefordshire

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, reliable and experienced English & Maths Tutor to work with children and young people in Herefordshire. This is an in-person tutoring role and is not online work.
The role will involve providing personalised support across English and Maths to students who may benefit from additional help with their learning, confidence and engagement. You will be expected to build positive relationships with students and adapt your teaching approach to meet their individual abilities, needs and educational goals.
The successful tutor will be able to deliver engaging and accessible lessons while providing a patient, flexible and encouraging approach to learning. Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs would be particularly beneficial.
The role may involve
Delivering one-to-one or small-group tuition in English and Maths
Supporting students with areas of the curriculum appropriate to their age and ability
Planning engaging and appropriately challenging learning activities
Adapting teaching to suit different abilities, learning needs and levels of engagement
Supporting students with reading, writing, comprehension, spelling and grammar
Supporting students with numeracy, problem-solving and mathematical understanding
Helping students develop confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning
Supporting students who may have struggled within a traditional school environment
Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
Working collaboratively with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
Maintaining clear and professional communication
Following safeguarding procedures at all timesEssential requirements
Experience teaching or tutoring English and Maths to children or young people
A good understanding of the relevant English and Maths curriculum
Experience working with students with SEND and/or SEMH needs is desirable
Experience delivering one-to-one or personalised educational support is desirable
The ability to plan and deliver engaging, personalised learning
Strong communication, organisation and relationship-building skills
A patient, calm, flexible and supportive approach
The ability to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
A genuine commitment to supporting young people to achieve their potential
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check, where required
