DR Newitt Engineering & Manufacturing are currently working with an established engineering and manufacturing business who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Machinist / Setter Operator to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC machinist looking for strong long-term earning potential, a structured shift pattern and the opportunity to work within a modern engineering environment.
The role will initially operate on a 3-shift rotation:

6:00am – 2:00pm

2:00pm – 10:00pm
-
10:00pm – 6:00am
The business is planning to move to a Continental shift pattern, with earnings expected to be in the region of £52,000 per annum once this is introduced.

As a CNC Setter / Operator, you'll be responsible for setting and operating CNC machinery to produce quality components to drawing specifications.
Your responsibilities will include:

Setting and operating CNC machinery
-
Working predominantly with Fanuc-controlled machines
-
Setting tools, offsets and cutting parameters
-
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
-
Carrying out first-off and in-process inspections
-
Using measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification
-
Making tool and offset adjustments where required
-
Changing tooling and carrying out routine machine adjustments
-
Working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
-
Identifying and reporting any machining or quality issues
About You
We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is confident working independently within a CNC machining environment.
You'll ideally have:

Previous CNC Setter / Operator experience

Experience with Fanuc controls

Good understanding of CNC machining processes

Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
-
Experience setting tools, offsets and workholding
-
Experience machining to tight tolerances
-
Good understanding of cutting tools and machining parameters
-
Strong attention to detail and quality
-
A flexible approach to shift work
A recognised engineering apprenticeship or qualification would be advantageous, but hands-on CNC setting and operating experience is the key requirement.
