Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Commissioning Engineer on a 3 Year contract, based on Sites UK Wide. This Role is outside IR35.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major National Grid substation delivery project, working on the commissioning of new and upgraded 400kV substation assets. This is a long-term opportunity offering contract stability over a 3-year term.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carry out commissioning activities on 400kV substation equipment, including switchgear, protection, and control systems

Conduct functional testing, fault finding, and verification in line with National Grid technical standards and specifications

Liaise with site teams, designers, and client representatives to resolve technical issues during commissioning

Complete and maintain accurate commissioning documentation, test records, and reports

Ensure all works are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant HSE, CDM, and National Grid site regulations

Support handover and energisation activities as required
Requirements
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrable commissioning experience on high voltage substations, ideally at 400kV or equivalent transmission level

Strong technical knowledge of high voltage switchgear (GIS and/or AIS)

Sound understanding of protection, control, and testing systems on transmission assets

Experience working on National Grid or similar transmission-level projects

Relevant electrical engineering qualifications (HNC/HND or equivalent

Willingness to be based on site full-time for the duration of the contract
