HR & Payroll Administrator – Part Time

The Opportunity
Jayar Components Ltd is a well-established, family-run automotive parts business operating more than 50 branches across the South of England.
We are looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Administrator to join our small Head Office team in Aylesford.
This is a permanent part-time position of 21 hours per week, ideally worked across three full days. There may be scope to increase the hours in the future, depending on business requirements and the successful candidate.
This is a varied, hands-on role supporting the Payroll & HR Manager across the day-to-day HR function, with additional involvement in payroll.
We are particularly interested in finding someone who can bring practical HR knowledge and experience to the department. You will be encouraged to use your initiative, contribute ideas and help us continue to improve our HR processes.
This is not a management position, but it would suit an experienced HR Administrator who is confident working independently and enjoys being involved in a broad range of HR activities.
Key Responsibilities

Providing day-to-day HR administrative support across the employee lifecycle.

Preparing contracts of employment, offer letters, variation letters and other HR correspondence.

Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems.

Supporting recruitment, including advertising vacancies, arranging interviews and onboarding new starters.

Supporting absence management, including maintaining records and preparing relevant correspondence.

Providing administrative support in relation to complex HR cases, including preparing documentation, arranging meetings and maintaining accurate case records.

Assisting with disciplinary, grievance, capability and long-term absence processes.

Supporting payroll administration and providing payroll cover during periods of annual leave or absence.

Processing employee changes, starters and leavers and ensuring accurate information is provided for payroll.

Producing HR reports and maintaining accurate personnel information.

Helping to review and improve HR administrative processes and procedures.

Handling confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.
About You
We are looking for someone with around five years' practical HR experience who can bring knowledge and confidence to the role.
You will ideally have:

Strong HR administration experience and a good understanding of the employee lifecycle.

Experience supporting employee relations matters, such as disciplinary, grievance, capability and absence cases.

Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The confidence to work independently, use your initiative and manage competing priorities.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using HR systems.

Previous payroll experience or exposure to payroll administration would be highly desirable.

Experience of Sage Payroll would be an advantage, but is not essential.
A formal HR or CIPD qualification is welcome but not essential. We are more interested in practical HR experience, sound judgement and someone who can make a positive contribution to the department.
