Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats individuals with temporary or long term physical disabilities to relieve pain, restore function, and promote healing by applying the therapeutic properties of exercise, and using certain modalities that include, but are not limited to heat, cryotherapy, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation. The physical therapist treats the "whole person" by psychologically preparing the patient for treatment and working to rebuild confidence.
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (* = Essential Functions)
The physical therapist, performs evaluations and designs a plan of care based on the initial assessment.
Performs appropriate tests to determine problem areas related to neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems.
Documents normal/abnormal findings and related history.
Reports suspected abuse/neglect in the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric population.
Collaborates with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries.
Plans and implements safe and comprehensive treatment programs to address functional
Educates patient, family, and physician in current functional status and provides documents accordingly.
Speaks positively about the system, physicians, community and staff.
Utilizes safe patient handling equipment when necessary.
Instructs patients and their families in the care and use of wheelchairs, assistive devices, prosthetics, braces, and orthotics when appropriate.
Maintains the patient record in a timely fashion.

Hours: Per Diem, various shifts.
Salary: $45.00 - $51.00 per hour based on experience

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE
Licensed to practice in Physical Therapy in the State of New York.
1 year of outpatient physical therapy preferred
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an Accredited College/University program in physical therapy.
CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS
BLS/CPR certification
Ability to learn new tasks and the use of new equipment
Ability to make sound judgments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent eye/hand coordination.
Ability to evaluate and interpret diagnostic tests.
Excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to stand and move about freely for extended periods of time.
Knowledge of bio-mechanics and physical therapy standards and practices.
Communicates effectively with members of healthcare team, families, often under stress.
Ability to read, interpret and follow detailed oral, written and illustrated instructions.
Knowledge of a wide variety of physical therapy equipment and instruments, computer skills preferred.
