Supply Desk are recruiting a committed and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming Primary SEN school in Bushey. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils with profound Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), providing tailored support that enables them to access learning, develop communication skills and achieve their individual outcomes.
The successful candidate will play a vital role within the school's dedicated support team, helping to create a structured, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe, understood and supported. Working alongside experienced teachers, therapists and other professionals, you will support pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups and within the classroom, helping them to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence and social interaction through personalised learning approaches.
This position would suit an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant, a recent graduate considering a career in special education, or someone with transferable skills from care or support work who has a genuine passion for supporting children with complex additional needs.
What You'll Do:
Provide classroom support to pupils with profound Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups to support learning, communication and engagement.
Assist teachers in delivering structured, autism-friendly lessons and maintaining a calm, positive learning environment.
Support pupils with communication differences, sensory processing needs and behaviours that may challenge, using consistent and positive strategies.
Encourage the development of independence, emotional regulation and social interaction through personalised support.
Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, confident and engaged throughout the school day.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with children or young people in an educational, SEN or support setting.
An understanding of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), or a genuine willingness to learn and develop within a specialist SEN environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient, resilient and enthusiastic approach to supporting children with additional needs.
