Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week)

Vegetation Operative - London Overground Region
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Vegetation Operative to join a professional team responsible for maintaining railway stations and surrounding infrastructure across the London Overground network.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering high standards, and wants to develop a career within the rail and facilities maintenance sector. Full training will be provided, making this role suitable for candidates with transferable experience from grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening, or similar outdoor roles.
The Role
As a Vegetation Operative, you will carry out a variety of vegetation management and grounds maintenance tasks while following all health, safety, quality, and environmental procedures. You will work both independently and as part of a team to ensure sites are maintained to a high standard and contractual requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities
Grass strimming and edge trimming
Hedge cutting and vegetation clearance
Weed removal and chemical weedkiller application
Moss removal and treatment
High-level vegetation treatment and removal
Cutting back vegetation beyond boundary fence lines
Removal and disposal of bird nests in line with regulations
Maintaining station environments including platforms, bridges, stairs, subways, station entrances, cycle sheds, car parks, approach roads, lifts, and surrounding lease land
Completing planned maintenance activities within agreed timeframes
Recording completed works using handheld devices and mobile applications
Taking clear before-and-after photographs of completed tasks
Reporting faults and issues accurately and professionally
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
Full UK Manual Driving Licence
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proactive and reliable approach to work
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Physically capable of lifting and carrying equipment weighing over 15kg
Desirable
Previous grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening, or vegetation clearance experience
IPAF and PASMA licences
Experience using handheld devices and app-based reporting systems
