Academics is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive school in East Sussex for a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026.
This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), helping them to access learning, achieve their individual targets, and thrive within the school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's academic, social, and emotional development while working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), parents, and the class teacher.
The Role
Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP.
Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
Implement strategies and interventions outlined within the EHCP.
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.
Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN professionals.
Work closely with the SLT, parents, and class teacher to ensure consistent support and positive outcomes.
Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
Previous experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
Knowledge of EHCPs and SEN support strategies is advantageous.
Patient, caring, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
