Are you a master of your craft with a passion for passing on the torch? We’re looking for a dedicated Joinery Skills Tutor to join our Work-Based Learning team. This isn’t just a teaching job; it’s a chance to shape the next generation of carpenters and joiners, turning enthusiastic learners into elite tradespeople.
The Role: Why It Matters
You won't just be checking boxes; you’ll be a mentor, a coach, and an industry expert.
You will:
- Bring the Craft to Life: Deliver creative, engaging sessions that bridge the gap between the workshop and the site.
- Support the Journey: Use your industry insight to develop the Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours (KSBs) that modern employers crave.
- Be the Expert in the Field: Conduct on-site performance reviews and assessments, ensuring our apprentices meet the highest professional standards.
- Stay Connected: Use your tech-savviness to track progress through e-portfolios, keeping everyone—from the student to the employer—on the path to success.
What You’ll Bring to the Bench
We value your hands-on experience as much as your paperwork. We’re looking for:
- Industry Roots: Solid experience in Joinery or Woodworking.
- Trade Credentials: An NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant wood trade.
- The Right Tools: An A1/V1 Assessor Award and a Level 5 Teaching Qualification (or the drive to work toward them with our support!).
- People Skills: The ability to build strong relationships with a diverse range of learners and partner organisations.
We understand that no candidate will perfectly match every qualification or criterion listed. If your experience differs from what we've outlined but you believe you can contribute to this role, we encourage you to apply!
Department Info
You’ll report to the Work-Based Learning Team Leader, working alongside a collaborative team of Curriculum Managers and Lecturers. We pride ourselves on being flexible, proactive and, most importantly, student-focused.
