About the Role
We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive educational setting in Sheffield S11. This role involves supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.
You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
Assist with classroom activities and differentiated learning tasks
Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and behaviour management strategies
Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interaction
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals
Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback where required
Help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements
Experience working with children or young people with SEN is desirable
A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or SEN support are advantageous
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
