We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join the team at Colchester, a specialist primary provision supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 who have experienced barriers to learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and those who have faced challenges in mainstream education, helping them re-engage, rebuild confidence, and succeed.

The Role
You will work closely with the SENCo, Senior Leadership Team, and teaching staff to provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
You’ll play a key role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
Support pupils’ learning, progress, and emotional wellbeing
Work with children with SEND and SEMH needs, including those with trauma backgrounds
Build strong, positive relationships and model excellent behaviour
Assist with planning, interventions, and classroom delivery
Engage with families and carers to support pupil development
Contribute to a collaborative and reflective team environment
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with KS1/KS2 pupils (essential)
Strong literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills
Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs (desirable)
A calm, resilient, and proactive approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for inclusive education

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 3:00pm
