Position: Relief Hostess / Domestic Assistant
Location: Great Western Hospital, Swindon
Start Date: ASAP
Initial Contract Length: 3 months (with potential for extension - Temp to Perm opportunities available))
Shift Pattern: shift 13.00-19.30 - Mon-Fri
What You'll Do: As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food service to our patients. Your primary duties will include:
Meal Preparation & Distribution: Prepare and serve nutritious meals, snacks, and beverages, ensuring all dietary needs, allergies, and preferences are met.
Collaboration: Work closely with ward staff to communicate dietary requirements and ensure patient satisfaction.
Safety First: Adhere to safe food handling practices in line with HACCP and infection control policies, recording food temperatures and fridge logs as required.
Maintain cleanliness in patient areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal spaces to hospital standards.
Perform daily and deep cleaning tasks, using appropriate chemicals and equipment safely per COSHH regulations.
Actively report any maintenance issues or hazards to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
Infection Prevention:
Follow hand hygiene, PPE, and cross-contamination procedures diligently.
Respond promptly to cleaning requests related to spills, bodily fluids, and isolation areas.
Support outbreak control procedures when necessary.
Teamwork & Communication:
Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, dietitians, and infection control teams.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, especially those with additional needs.
Participate in team briefings and training sessions, contributing to a supportive team culture.
What We're Looking For: To excel in this role, you should have:
A good basic education with strong reading and writing skills.
Knowledge of basic health and safety principles.
Experience in a food service or catering environment.
Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on clear verbal communication.
An understanding of hygiene and safety protocols, as well as special diet awareness.
Familiarity with COSHH regulations.
