IBA Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller

Our client, a specialist Lloyd’s insurance broker based in the heart of the City, close to Fenchurch Street, is looking to appoint an IBA Accounts Assistant / Credit Controller to support the day-to-day operations of its finance team.

This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the timely collection of insurance premiums, while working closely with an established and supportive finance function. The successful candidate will take ownership of a designated portfolio of accounts, making it an excellent opportunity for someone with insurance accounts or credit control experience to join a growing business that continues to invest in its finance team, with the potential to offer long-term career progression.

Key responsibilities

Monitor and manage the aged debt report, including the issuing of client credits
Proactively chase overdue payments by telephone and email
Resolve client payment queries and disputes efficiently and professionally
Liaise with account handlers and brokers to support premium collection
Issue regular client statements and payment reminders
Ensure insurer statements are settled in a timely manner
Reconcile bank transactions
Maintain and update client and insurer accounts
Support the Management Accountant with month-end duties
Provide ad hoc support to the wider finance team and business as required

Requirements

Previous experience in credit control, ideally within insurance or financial services
Knowledge of FCA regulations and premium handling would be advantageous
Strong attention to detail with excellent numeracy skills
Clear written and verbal communication skills
A confident and professional telephone manner
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
A proactive approach and strong problem-solving mindset
Exposure to Global XB would be advantageous
