Pastoral Support Assistant - KS2 SEN Alternative Provision (New Forest)
A nurturing KS2 alternative provision in the New Forest is seeking a Pastoral Support Assistant to provide consistent, relational and highly personalised 1:1 support to pupils with a range of SEN and SEMH needs. The provision delivers a broad, balanced and diverse curriculum through a therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor‑based approach, tailored to each child's individual development and wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver calm, relational and 1:1 pastoral support to KS2 pupils with diverse SEN/SEMH needs
Support pupils with emotional regulation, anxiety, sensory needs, transitions and social communication
Engage children through therapeutic, sensory, practical and outdoor learning activities
Promote emotional wellbeing, safety and positive behaviour using nurturing, trauma‑informed approaches
Help pupils build communication, self‑regulation, social skills, independence and confidence
Build trusting relationships through patience, empathy and clear communication
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and pastoral staff to provide holistic support
Contribute to a safe, structured and emotionally supportive learning environment

Location: New Forest
Position: Pastoral Support Assistant - KS2 SEN Alternative Provision
Start Date: September 2026 or ASAP
Contract Type: Full‑time
Working Hours: 08:30 - 16:30 Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: From £14.25 per hour
Requirements
Right to Work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
References covering the last 24 months
Level 2/3 qualification in childcare/education/health & social care or relevant SEN/SEMH experience
