Challenging Behaviour Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Barking and Dagenham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working with young people and making a real difference through education and training.
As a Beh Support Assistant, you will support secondary-aged students who display challenging behaviour. You will help them regulate their emotions, build positive relationships, and re-engage with learning. This role suits candidates with backgrounds in care, youth work, or those looking to move into education and training.
This Pastoral Support Assistant position is based in Barking and Dagenham, where you will work closely with teaching staff and the pastoral team to provide consistent support both inside and outside the classroom. The successful Pastoral Support Assistant will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour and supporting student wellbeing across the school in Barking and Dagenham.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with challenging behaviour using calm and consistent strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils in Barking and Dagenham
Provide 1:1 and small group support as a Pastoral Support Assistant
Assist teachers in managing behaviour and maintaining a positive learning environment
Help students re-engage with learning and school routines
Work collaboratively with staff and parents where requiredRequirements:
Experience working with young people (care, youth work, or school setting)
Confidence managing challenging behaviour in secondary-aged children
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
