The role champions pedagogical innovation, supports staff in embedding learning technologies and AI-enabled tools into curriculum design and delivery, and ensures alignment with institutional priorities, sector best practice, and governance requirements. The post holder is responsible for planning, managing, and continuously improving faculty-wide learning technology and AV services.Imperial is currently transforming its digital education with the rollout of a new Learning Management System (LMS), powered by Canvas. More information regarding the rollout can be found here.What we are looking forStrategic Leadership and Resource ManagementDevelop and implement a faculty wide digital education and learning technology strategy aligned with departmental and faculty objectives,.Champion innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment, including the effective and responsible use of emerging technologies and AI tools.Provide expert advice to the Natural Sciences Education Committee (NSEC) on the strategic development of digital learning environments and technology enhanced education. Team and Resource ManagementProvide strategic leadership, line management, and professional development for the Learning Technology Support team and the Faculty AV Manager, ensuring effective coordination across learning technology and AV services.Set clear direction, priorities, and expectations so both services operate cohesively to support high‑quality teaching, learning, and assessment across physical and digital environments.Ensure workforce planning, skills development, and succession planning across learning technology and AV teams.Work with Faculty professional services leadership to plan and manage budgets, resources, and investment across learning technology and AV provision.Oversee relationships with external suppliers, vendors, and partners related to learning technology and AV services, ensuring value for money and service quality. Learning Technology Services and Digital EcosystemsProvide strategic oversight of Faculty teaching and learning environments, ensuring physical teaching spaces and digital platforms work together to support contemporary pedagogical approaches.Ensure alignment between AV services, learning technologies (e.g., VLEs, lecture capture, learning analytics), and curriculum delivery needs.Contribute to planning for teaching room development, refurbishment, and technology enhancement in collaboration with ICT, Estates, and central services.Lead the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of faculty digital learning ecosystems, including the VLE, lecture capture, learning analytics, and emerging platforms.Ensure learning technologies are reliable, scalable, and accessible, meeting the needs of diverse disciplines, staff, and learners.Establish processes, standards, and governance for the effective management, procurement, and lifecycle review of learning technologies.Work collaboratively with central digital, library, and IT services to ensure seamless integration of systems and services. Academic Partnership and Pedagogical SupportWork closely with academic staff to support the design and delivery of high-quality online, blended, and digitally enhanced coursesProvide guidance on appropriate use of learning technologies in curriculum design, assessment, and learning supportSupport the evaluation of digital teaching approaches and learning materials to drive continuous improvement Staff Development and Training ResourcesDesign and coordinate a faculty-wide programme of professional development, including workshops, structured learning pathways, and bespoke upskilling activitiesEnsure learning technology training, resources, and support are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to varying levels of experience.
