Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Catering Assistant to work on a part-time, long-term contract with a Public Sector client based in Preston, Lancashire.
The role is paying £12.71p per hour PAYE/£15.63p per hour Umbrella.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants will need to pass through national security vetting.
Therefore applicants will need to have resided in the UK for at least the last 5 years.
Role Description:
To assist in the preparation of food, servicing of meals with agreed methods and portion control.
Assist in stock taking including checking and receipting of deliveries, appropriate labelling and storage of stock.
To ensure that there are sufficient hot and cold food provisions during the service times.
Take an active role in promoting the catering facilities including undertaking promotional events.
Main Responsibilities:
•?????To support the Kitchen Team Leader in delivering the catering function within the specific catering facility
•?????To undertake food preparation duties for all service offerings provided by the catering function, ensuring that food is served fresh and held at temperatures and times to meet food hygiene regulations and is ready for servicing at the allocated meal service times.
•?????To ensure that all food served is of a high quality, mindful of portion control, meal content and presentation
•?????To always serve and present meals and beverages in a friendly and courteous manner, promoting a warm and friendly atmosphere
•?????To undertake temperature monitoring, recording relevant information for mandatory documents
•?????To wash and dry kitchen pots / utensils / kitchen equipment, storing appropriately
•?????To maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen and surrounding areas, and ensure the cleaning schedule and daily checks are completed as and when required including the dining area both during and after service
•?????To assist in ensuring a high level of health and safety, cleanliness, and food hygiene to ensure that safe working practices are followed, and immediately report any problems or defective equipment to a senior member of the catering team or responsible person
•?????To assist in stock taking and storage of stock, including deliveries
•?????Operate the till system, including handling cash and card payments
•?????To monitor, replenish and clean the food and beverage vending machines and remove cash and pass to the appointed person for storage as and when required
•?????Ensure compliance with all relevant Food Hygiene & Health and Safety regulations, COSHH regulations and all statutory health and safety requirements, and ensure these are observed by all member of staff and visitors
•?????To assist in the monthly Health & Safety checks as and when required
•?????Maintain a high standard of personal cleanliness and hygiene and a clean and tidy appearance including the use of PPE and wearing of uniform at all times
•?????To report any accidents / incidents immediately as per the Constabulary’s accident procedure and complete all necessary documents
•?????To support a service for out of hours emergency catering provision as and when required and planned operational events out of normal hours
•?????To be able to travel and provide Catering Assistant cover at all catering sites as and when required
•?????To use the pool vehicles to transport goods, equipment and catering provisions as required
•?????Take an active role in promoting the catering facility including undertaking promotional events
•?????To attend in house and external training courses as appropriate / required, including online training
•?????To be responsible for improving your performance by participating in the Professional Development Review (PDR) process with your manager
•?????To undertake other duties and additional responsibilities which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading as and when required
Experience & Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience of working in a busy kitchen environment
Knowledge of current food legislation regarding food hygiene, allergens and health and safety in the workplace
Experience in preparing food to meet quality, nutrition and cost
Ability to read and understand written instruction, health and hygiene notices in relation to food preparation, food storage and service delivery
Demonstrate an understanding of safe management and recycling of general waste
Ability to maintain and record information clearly and accurately
