We are looking for a Team Leader to support the provision in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and staff practice. The Team Leader provides leadership on shift, acts as a positive role model, and promotes a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
Care and Support of Children & Young People

Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times

Deliver high-quality, child-centered care in line with individual care plans

Promote positive behaviour using agreed behaviour support strategies

Encourage education, health, independence, and life-skills development

Maintain accurate, timely, and reflective care records
Leadership and Staff Support

Lead shifts effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing and safe practice
-
Provide guidance, supervision, and support to Support Workers
-
Act as a role model for best practice, values, and professional conduct
-
Support induction, mentoring, and on-the-job training of staff
-
Participate in staff supervision and contribute to performance management
Safeguarding and Compliance

Ensure safeguarding procedures are understood and followed
-
Report and record concerns in line with legislation and local safeguarding procedures
-
Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements
Operational Duties

Support with on call and cover shifts when required
-
Administer or oversee medication in line with policies and training
-
Liaise with professionals including social workers, schools, and health services
-
Participate in care planning meetings and reviews
-
Support incident management, de-escalation, and reflective learning
Skills and Experience
Essential
-
Experience working in a children’s residential care setting

Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
-
Ability to lead a team and manage challenging situations
-
Good written and verbal communication skills
-
Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-in
Desirable
-
Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent(or willingness to work towards)

Experience as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader

Knowledge of trauma-informed or therapeutic care models
-
Experience supporting children with complex needs
