We are seeking an experienced and detail-focused Senior Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day running of a busy finance function. This is a key role responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, financial administration and supporting accurate financial reporting.
This opportunity is ideal for a proactive finance professional with strong payroll expertise and solid general accounts office experience who thrives in a hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and process end-to-end payroll, including starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, statutory payments and deductions

Administer PAYE, pensions and ensure compliance with HMRC and National Minimum Wage legislation

Prepare payroll reports and post payroll journals to the finance system

Maintain accurate and confidential payroll records

Support the preparation of management accounts and financial reports

Manage the debtors ledger and assist with credit control

Process purchase invoices, staff expenses, BACS and ad hoc payments

Maintain petty cash and post cash receipts

Complete month-end procedures including journals and key reconciliations

Maintain general ledger records and assist with bank reconciliations

Assist with year-end processes and audit requirements

Respond to finance and payroll queries and support ongoing improvements to financial systems and processes
About You

AAT Level 3/4 (or equivalent experience)

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a finance role

Significant in-house payroll processing experience

Confident preparing accounts to trial balance stage

Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and finance systems

Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle confidential information professionally
