Catering Manager - Primary School Salary: £24,030 per annum Hours: 37.5 hours per week Working weeks: 38 weeks per year (term time)

Catering Manager - About the role We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Catering Manager to lead the catering service within a busy primary school. This is a hands-on role, where you will not only manage the kitchen and team but also actively participate in the preparation and cooking of fresh, nutritious meals each day.

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality food that supports pupils’ health and wellbeing while ensuring smooth kitchen operations and compliance with all food safety standards.

Catering Manager - Key responsibilities

Lead and organise day-to-day kitchen operations
Take a hands-on approach to cooking, food preparation, and service
Plan and prepare fresh, nutritious meals in line with school food standards
Supervise, motivate, and support catering staff
Ensure food hygiene, allergen management, and health & safety compliance
Manage ordering, stock control, and budget responsibilities
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and efficiency
Engage positively with pupils and staff and promote healthy eating initiatives

Catering Manager - About you

Experience in a catering or kitchen management role
A passion for cooking and delivering quality meals from fresh ingredients
Comfortable working in a hands-on capacity alongside the team
Strong leadership and organisational skills
Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety regulations
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced school environment
Food hygiene qualification (desirable)
