Teaching Assistant – Year 2 (Academic Support)
Central Preston | Full-Time | Term Time Only
We are seeking to appoint a committed and confident Teaching Assistant to work in a Year 2 class at a school in central Preston, supporting four children who are working below age-related expectations. This is a full-time, term-time only role starting ASAP and running until July 2026 (minimum, end of the academic year).
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
The Headteacher is deeply committed to ensuring every child reaches their full potential, and this role has been created as an additional staffing investment in Year 2 to provide targeted support and accelerate progress for these pupils.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
Provide targeted academic support to four children in Year 2
Support pupils in bridging gaps in learning across core subjects
Deliver interventions and classroom support in line with the class teacher’s plans
Work closely with the class teacher to monitor, record and discuss pupil progress
Encourage confidence, engagement and independence in learning
Support a positive and inclusive classroom environment
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has previous classroom or teaching assistant experience (essential)
Is confident supporting children working below age-related expectations
Has a good understanding of the KS1 curriculum and early learning progression
Can communicate effectively and liaise closely with the class teacher
Is patient, proactive and well organised
Works well as part of a team

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
